Sell a product

Search for a product

In the POS interface, you can search for a product using 3 methods:

1. Scan the barcode of the product (with the cursor placed in the search field)

2. Type the reference (or part of it), the name of the product (or part of it), or the EAN-13 code into the search field, then press Enter to start the search

3. Click the Catalog button to browse through the PrestaShop category tree

Note: Searching is only possible when at least 3 characters are entered.

It is also possible to enter "col %" (note the space before the %) to trigger a search that forces a pop-up window to appear, showing all products that contain "col" in any of the relevant fields.

Add a product to the cart

There are 3 methods:

1. Scan the barcode.

The product is automatically added to the cart

2. Manual entry (e.g., "colibri")

A pop-up opens showing a selection of products matching the search criteria.

You must either:

- click the Add to cart button

- check the desired products then click the Add button (all selected products will be added at the same time)

3. Catalog button

Another screen displays PrestaShop   Categories and the products they contain (sub-categories appear when you click on a category). Clicking on a product adds it directly to the cart, unless it has variations – in that case, they are displayed in a 3rd zone.

A button allows you to access the product sheet in the back office.

The Catalog view includes filters that can be toggled on/off with a single click and are cumulative: active products, in stock, in the default category. It is also possible to hide product images.

Filter settings are retained from one session to the next.

Search details

The search system built into the POS works as follows:

1) automatic addition to the cart if

  • scan or entry of a EAN13 barcode
  • entry of a partial (but unique) or exact reference of a product (but unique)
  • entry of the exact MPN field (Options tab of the Product sheet)

2) opening of a selection pop-up if:

  • the same EAN13 barcode exists on at least 2 products or variations
  • the same reference exists on at least 2 products or variations
  • entry of a partial reference shared by several products or variations
  • entry of all or part of the product name

If the option "Web exclusive (not sold in-store)" is checked in the product sheet (Options tab), a product cannot be added to the POS, nor found via search or catalog. There is however one exception: if the seller scans a valid EAN13 that corresponds to a product, the POS overrides this option (as the product is physically present at checkout, the sale should be able to proceed).
